We’ve been busy this week coming up with decor ideas, as Cox and Kings, the travel company who specialise in luxury holidays, have challenged six bloggers to decorate a room around a country theme – India.
There’s a set budget of £250 and a deadline of 9th March, so we’ve got a few weeks to transform a room.
Challenge Room
In my case, I’ve chosen to tackle our spare bedroom. It’s the one room we’ve not done much to, apart from a giving it a quick lick of paint before we moved in – the previous colour scheme in there was dire and required anyone entering the room to wear sunglasses, as it was so bright.
At the moment, the room tends to become a bit of a dumping ground and is in serious need of a tidy up, so it’s a good opportunity to finally do this. I’ve got a bit of temporary downtime coming up in April, following an op, so it would also be lovely to have another room to use and rest in during that time, rather than just wanting to shut the door and not look in there!
Challenge Decor Ideas
So far I’ve been researching ideas for my India theme and I’ve now reached the point of having loads of possibilities! I’m torn between two contrasting colour schemes, which I can both see as working equally well, but it all bottles down to cost and sticking within the budget.
One item I found that would have been perfect for the one colour scheme has literally just sold out and, despite a lot of looking, it doesn’t seem to be available to buy anywhere else.
I’m always keen to hunt for bargains, so will be on the lookout for the best prices available, whilst still including the odd luxury item.
Other Bloggers Taking Part
The other bloggers taking part in the Cox and Kings Bloggers Challenge are:
Jackie on behalf of Home Gems
Mary from Mary Poppins
Jenny from The Style PA
Jess H from Bibbity-Bob
Jess C from That’s Yummy Mummy!
We’re looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!
You can follow our progress and tweets on Twitter – we’re using the hashtag #ckbloggerchallenge – and I’ll be posting more updates here as my room transformation project progresses.
Photos of all the finished Indian themed rooms will be posted on the Cox and King’s Facebook page for voting between 12-25 March.
We’re really looking forward to seeing the results! Happy decorating!
Thanks, Katie! It’s been great fun doing it – even though I’ve begun to obsess about all things Indian!
