Product review: LID-IT dog bowl from Pup & Kit

As devoted pet owners, we’re always keen to try out new products – especially if they’re designed to make life a little easily. That’s why we were pleased to have the opportunity to review the LID-IT dog bowl from UK brand Pup & Kit. Their small but select range of products is designed for the stylish dog on the move, and comprises beds, bowls, protector mats and more.

Very excited about opening our parcel!

What we tested: The Lid-it® Pet Bowl by Pup & Kit is a unique, quality stainless steel bowl with airtight silicone lid. The perfect solution for keeping your dog or cat food fresh, as a travel dog bowl or for preparing meals in advance. Available in three sizes and two colour choices, prices start at £12.95. We tested the large version (£15.95) in grey.

Who tested it: Our resident doggy tester is Olly Spaniel, a cosmopolitan pooch who travels all over Europe with owner Sara Walker. Sara says:

“We travel a lot with Olly, and often stop at hotels for a single night on our way to somewhere else. He’s on dried food, which is convenient, but we usually bring his breakfast up to the room the night before for convenience purposes. This does mean the room takes on a bit of an aroma overnight, and once we accidentally lost a bowl of food as it was knocked off a shelf! (Fortunately, Olly was on hand to help clean up.) As soon as I saw the LID-IT bowl, I thought what a simple but brilliant solution it was. A good-sized, nice quality bowl with a tightly-fitting silicone lid, meaning no unwanted smells or untimely spills. Perfect for the busy dog on the go.”

What I liked: The product overall was great quality, and both lid and bowl are dishwasher safe. The silicone lid does need a bit of pressing down and fiddling with, but this is minor and I think it will improve as the lid softens with use. I particularly liked the addition of a silicone band underneath, which made it much quieter on a hard floor – important if you’re in a hotel! It would also be ideal if your dog is on frozen food, as you could use it to thaw out food overnight in the fridge. According to Pup & Kit, the bowl is also watertight but I didn’t put this to the test.

What I didn’t like: Honestly couldn’t think of anything! This is a great product at a good price point, and makes travelling a little bit easier.
