Sandy chic: 10 ideas for desert-themed interiors

The beauty of the ‘desert’ trend is that you can add your own twist. Go for understated and stylish with a muted colour palette of peach, orangey clay brown, dusty blues, grey and off white, mixed with natural materials and textures. This is a classic Californian beach house look, and it’s adult and sophisticated.

Complement it with bold geometric prints, or mix it up with cartoon cactus cushions and lots of bright plain colours. We’ve picked out ten of our favourites.

1. Cactus cushion, Markless Design

A combination of the cactus’s quirky, instantly recognisable shape and emerald green tones make this an eye catching statement cushion. This piece from Markless Design is printed on 100% cotton twill with cotton piping in a contrasting colour for the perfect finish, and is designed by Rebecca Markless who finds inspiration in nature and the weird and wonderful creatures of the world. £52, available from Barnaby & Co.

2. Cactus filled cushion, Pasx
