In the course of researching product ideas for the Cox and Kings Blogger Challenge to create an Indian style room, we’ve found loads of great places to buy Indian home accessories and decor ideas.
If you’re thinking of adding an Indian flavour to a room, or simply love Indian style decor, then here are 10 places to shop for the Indian look.
1. Myakka
Myakka stock a brilliant range of Fair Trade furniture for all rooms in the home, plus sell lots of nice Indian home accessories, such as candle holders, cushions, throws, quilts, lighting and kilims.
2. Bhatik
Indian interiors company, Bhatik, have a great range of authentic Indian decor items. Check out their soft furnshings, furniture, mirrors, lighting, gifts and other Indian home accessories.
3. Namaste
Namaste specialise in fairly traded and ethically sourced products and have a colourful array of products on their website. Alongside clothing and accessories, they stock some stunning home furnishings, including gorgeous throws and bedspreads, sari footstools, Indian wallhangings, jute rugs, cushions, kilims and more.
4. Chandni Chowk
If you’re in search of hand block-printed textiles, then Chandni Chowk is a must-see. All their products are handmade in India and Bangladesh and their range is all fair trade. Some of the products available include printed and plain curtains, throws, quilts and bedding, cushion covers, tableware, rugs and other home accessories. Their shops are well worth a visit too.
5. Essentially Indian
Essentially Indian specialise in handmade Indian soft furnishings and have a good selection of bedspreads, cushion covers, floor cushions, table cloths and more.
6. Yellow Sunrise
Specialising in ‘fairly traded Global inspirations’, Yellow Sunrise has some typically Indian soft furnishings, lightings, furniture and home accessories on offer.
7. Traidcraft Shop
Traidcraft often stock fair trade products made or sourced in India, such as bedding or home accessories, so is definitely worth a look.
8. Nkuku
Nkuku specialise in ‘stylish, eco-friendly and fair trade gifts’, primarily sourced from India or Africa. They’ve got some lovely and unusual products – often stocked by other major retailers – and their website is well worth browsing.
9. Global Seesaw
This fairtrade shop sells quality gifts made by women who’ve been exploited through human trafficking. Their Indian sari throws are stunning.
10. Pure-Asia
Pure-Asia stocks a range of contemporary-style Indian home accessories, including cushion covers, handcrafted items, jewellery boxes, picture frames and tea light holders.
