Halloween or All Hallows Eve has been celebrated among the Celts for centuries. Originally the pagan festival of Samhain, it marked the start of the new year which started on the first day of winter. As people believed that the souls would traditionally return for one day to visit their homes, they would sometimes wear masks and other disguises to confuse the ghosts and render them harmless.
Irish settlers took the tradition out to America, and a lot of our current customs such as pumpkin lanterns originated in the US and have come back to us. This 31 October, why not celebrate in style with our top 10 decorative home accessories?
