Gorgeous garden summerhouse
If my garden was big enough, I’d love this summerhouse at the bottom of it. I’d fill it with comfy chairs, cushions and a small table and retreat to the bottom of the garden to read, write and relax. On sunny days like today, I’d sit inside to avoid the strong heat of the sun, with the doors and windows propped wide open to allow an occasional breeze to blow through.
Made by Crane, the summerhouse is made from high grade FSC cerfied Scandinavian redwood, which is finished with cream paint (a sage version is available too) and cedar shingle tiles on the roof. Inside, the summerhouse is spacious, with wooden floors, double doors, windows that open and solid brass fittings.
Exclusive to John Lewis, the cream summerhouse is made to order and is delivered and assembled by Crane specialists. Perhaps it’s the ideal addition for your garden?
Gold champagne flute
The sales are a great opportunity to stock up on luxury items that you fancy owning, but can’t quite justify normally. Champagne flutes may fall into that category, as they’re lovely and useful for some occasions, but may not get heaps of use all year round.
This gold champagne flute is elegant and stylish. It’s part of the Star range by Julien Macdonald and has a lovely metallic silver lustre. The champagne glass is half price in the Debenhams sale, making it a very affordable £3.50. Handmade shelf and kitchen roll holder

Alison designs furniture too, which is handmade by carpenter, Phil. We love the idea of this functional kitchen shelf, which has a built in kitchen roll holder shelf below, on which you can also hang tea towels or kitchen towels. Green knitted bouf
Knitted items are so cool and trendy. Even if you can’t knit yourself, there are plenty of handknitted homeware items to buy, including this fabulous green pouf by Ferm Living.
It’s great for use as an occasional seat in the lounge, plus you can put your feet up on it too. It’s a good long-term investment piece as, if you look after it well, it should give you years of good use.

Fairtrade Vietnamese bench
The annual Plumo summer sale has kicked off today. Don’t be alarmed if you visit the site, click on the sale and get an error message (as we keep doing) – just click through to the section you want (home, gifts, clothes etc) and you’ll find all the sale items.
Some things aren’t reduced by a great deal, and perhaps rather highly priced to start with, but this Fairtrade Sapa bench has rather taken our fancy.
The low wooden bench, with it’s colourful painted wood, is a Fairtrade product from Vietnam. The seat is covered with traditional Vietnamese folk fabric, which is a nice added touch, and it would be a useful occasional bench for your home. We can see it working well under a window or perhaps in a hallway.
The only snag is that they say that, “each product will differ slightly from the image shown,” and it doesn’t explain any further in quite what way (if it’s simply the fabric, then it’s probably not a big deal, but we’d like to be sure before ordering it).
Price-wise, the Sapa bench started off life as £249, but is now down to £198. If previous Plumo sales are anything to go by, the price may get reduced further if stocks don’t sell out quickly.

It’s not often you find pink ostriches available on wallpaper, but this fun design has been created by Turner Pocock, in conjunction with Catherine Cazalet.
The nicely designed wallpaper is certainly not overpowering and, from a distance, you wouldn’t even know there are ostriches on it; it’s only when you’re up close that you get to fully appreciate the design.
The neutral and pink ostrich wallpaper is suitable for use in both adult and children’s rooms and is available to purchase, for £70.50 per roll, from Rockett St George.
Get equipped for camping
If you’re planning on going camping, or simply have a lot of picnics planned for the summer, then take advantage of this great offer from Camel and Yak.
They’ve put together a number of useful, hard-wearing melamine items produced by Rice to form an essential camping kit.
For £20, you get six stylish plastic plates, with a flower design in the middle of them, 12 mini food keepers, which are great for keeping all sorts of nibbles in, plus a set of two food containers, each of which has three levels of storage in it and useful handles that allow them to be carried (a bit like tiffin carriers, but made from melamine). These two are a great size, making them ideal for sandwiches, cakes, fruit or even for taking your cutlery in.
Even if you’re not a fan of the great outdoors, all the items would be useful for your home too – the plates are ideal for eating outside in the garden and the storage containers will get used time and time again.
Stylish storage jar
This pretty little cut glass storage jar is vintage in style and would loook lovely used in a bedroom or bathroom. You could fill it with cotton wall balls, bath salts or hair accessories, or simply use for decorative purposes.
The glass jar has a silver plated brass lid, with a decorative finish. It’s reduced in the sale at Graham and Green, so you could buy it for yourself, or as a present, and fill it up to give as a gift.
Rose pattern bin
At first glance, this looks like a rose patterned storage jar, but on closer inspection, it’s actually a pedal bin.
Who knew a bin could be so pretty? It’s the perfect finishing touch for a country style kitchen or bathroom.
