Vintage decorative French bottles and jars

Thursday, October 29th, 2009
French-bottles2      Decorative French bottles

If you love all things Vintage, old style bottles and fancy labels, then you’ll love these decorative French bottles and jars from Cologne and Cotton.

All the bottles and jars are sold empty, so you can add your own contents or simply use them for decorative purposes. The labels are reproduced from traditional French 19th century designs, similar to those found on old perfume bottles.

The vintage bottles are available in two sizes, 500ml (£25) and 1 litre (£30), with three designs to choose from, and the storage jars with lids are £25, with two designs on offer.

Enamel chalkboard panel storage box

Write the contents on

Write the contents on

Chalkboards are very popular in home interiors at the moment and this another novel way in which they can be used.

This large cream enamel box is great for storage purposes and measures a roomy 18cm by 22.5cm by 12.5cm. It’s finished off with a chalkboard panel on the front, so you can easily label it with what’s inside.

Unlike other labels, that you’d have to peel off or remove if you change your mind on the contents, this one lets you wipe it off quickly and start all over again.

It’s a great idea and very functional. Even better is the news that enamel chalkboard storage box is only £11.99 from The Gifted Penguin.

Love birds cushion

Love birds cushion

It’s not the cheapest cushion on the market, but we rather like this love birds design cushion by Danish company, Ferm Living.

The classic black and white design, featuring the silhouttes of six black birds sitting on branches, is unlikely to date.

The cushion is made from linen and cotton, measures 70cm by 35cm and is filled with down.

It’s available from Stylish Living for £70.

Add a touch of extra interest to your rooms, with the help of this dainty butterfly garland.

The duck egg blue feather butterfly garland features 12 hand-painted butterflies and drop crystals, strung together on an invisible nylon wire.

The garland measures 160cm and the wings of the butterflies are 10cm. As the picture shows, it look gorgeous hung around a mirror (you can get it to stay in place even better by using tiny pieces of Blu Tack). Or you could drape it around the tops of picture frames, on a windowsill, around your bed or use it in children’s rooms.

The butterfly garland is a best-seller from Anusha, where it costs £11.

If blue isn’t your colour, then the butterfly garland is also available in soft pink and lilac.

Beautifully decorated rose soap

Beautifully decorated rose soap

Devon-based Odds and Suds make gorgeous handmade soaps that not only look lovely in your bathroom, but are great to use too.

The company uses traditional methods to make the soaps, whisking everything by hand, and only uses natural ingredients, such as extra virgin olive oil,  flowers, herbs and spices.

For an extra special touch in your bathroom, the finished products look just the part. The rose soap, for example, is finished off with rosebuds on the top, and infused with rose hips and poppy seeds. It costs £3.80 for 100g.

All of the handmade products can be bought online from Odds and Suds, or from one of their two retail outlets in Ashburton or Tavistock, Devon.

Graham and Green crown glass jar

Add a regal touch to your bathroom

Add a regal touch to your bathroom

It’s often hard to find stylish bathroom accessories, but this crown topped glass jar from Graham and Green is an exception.

The glass storage jar has a ribbed effect on the sides, and it topped off with an eye-catching antiqued silver plate crown stopper.

It would look lovely filled with colourful bubble bath, bath salts or cotton buds (there’s just room to slip them in).

If you didn’t want it in your bathroom, it would work equally well filled with sugar in the kitchen, or simply as a decorative accessory elsewhere in your home.

The crown storage jar is £24.95 from Graham and Green.
