Shabby chic home stationery

Floral block pad

How annoying is it when you’re on the phone and need to make a note of something, or need to make a shopping list, but have no paper to hand?

I always seem to be in need of bits of paper for notes of some kind, but this chunky block pad, with its 800 sheets of paper, will keep me going for ages.

The bleached flowers design block pad is by Cath Kidston, and is available to buy for £6.

Traditional leather stationery box

Traditional antique leather stationery boxTraditional leather stationery storage box

Goodness me, this is utterly lovely!

I’m very fond of traditional, old stationery boxes and letter writing slopes and, whilst this one isn’t old, it really looks the part.

The stationery box is made from a rich chestnut brown leather. It’s got three drawers and six compartments for storing paper, envelopes, stamps and pens. When not in use, the box folds down and can be secured with the strap. It would look great displayed on a study desk or bureau and is a great way of celebrating the good old tradition of writing letters by hand.

The leather stationery box is sold by Life of Riley. It’s sadly not cheap, but it is a piece to keep and treasure.

Christmas gift tags

Cute bird gift tags

When you’ve bought a nice present and wrapped it up, then finishing it off with some ribbon and a nice gift tag makes it look even better.

These Wee Birdy gift tags would work well as Christmas gift tags, as well as being suitable for presents all year round. They come in a set of six, with mixed designs and colours, and each bird has a small button and piece of silver string on it.

The set of Wee Birdy gift tags are available from Drift Living for £4.50.

Kitchen Notes set from Berry Red

Sticky notes galore

Sticky notes galore

Oh how I love notepads and sticky notes and you can never have enough!

Having a good stash in the kitchen is essential and I typically get through loads of sticky notes. There’s all the usual reminder needs, like putting the rubbish out, turning the oven on or food I need to buy to stock up the cupboards, but I also like to use colour-coded sticky notes on foods that I freeze too.

Yes, I know it sounds a tad anal, but colour-coding helps easily distinguish between foods when they’re frozen in the same type of freezer bags - and there’s nothing worse than thinking of you’ve got a soup out of the freezer, to then discover it’s actually spag bol!

So I’d be in organisational heaven with this set of sticky notes. You get a whopping 480 of them in a handy tin, in all sorts of designs and colours, and they’re only £10 per set from Berry Red.

Cath Kidston labels and stickers set

Scrummy labels

Scrummy labels

I’m totally in love with this labels and sticker set from Cath Kidston!

I first found them in a little local shop and purchased a set as a gift for someone, but loved the idea so much that I’ve bought myself a set too (and another one as another present – can you spot a theme?).

The little flapover case opens up to reveal a plethora of stickers and labels – over 200 of them, in fact. Some are in the classic Cath Kidston patterned and floral designs, others are in plain colours, such as red, pink and blue, some have ‘to’ and ‘from’ on them, making them perfect for use on gifts, whilst others are left plain.

I’m planning to use mine as posh freezer labels, as I never seem to have labels to hand when I want to make a note of what I’m freezing, and for using on homemade jams, chutneys and other edibles. I can also see some of the labels as being useful for card making, but there are plenty of other possible uses too.

The labels and stickers set costs £6 if you buy it direct from Cath Kidston (and cost a similar price in my local shop), but savvy buyers should head to Amazon, where it’s available for the fabulous price of only £3.76. Bargain!
