Lidded storage jar
I can think of lots of things that I’d put in this useful storage jar. It would be great to keep in the cupboard, or use out on the table for serving sugar or jam.

Cutlery organisation
This great little willow basket is perfect for getting your cutlery organised. There are four compartments in the 15cm by 15cm basket that should cover all your basic cutlery needs (knives, forks, spoons and teaspoons), plus it has a useful handle, that makes it easy to carry to the table.
I’d use the basket indoors, as it would look great on my sideboard, but you could also make use of the handle to easily transport cutlery outdoors, to use for summer outdoor dining.

Retro scales
Given the choice between traditional style kitchen scales and digital scales, the traditional ones win me over every time. I’ve never found the digital scales quite so accurate and love the look of the traditional ones.
These retro ivory kitchen scales are stylish and functional, with a clear dial on the front and easy-to-use metal bowl perfect for measuring out baking ingredients. They measure in grams and kilos, and pounds and ounces, and are reasonably priced at £19.95.

Gorgeous dimensional cushion
This is one of the cushions I’ve loved all year, thanks to its funky three dimensional effect. The front of the square cushion is made up of four large 3D flowers and it’s lovely and soft to the touch, as it’s made from 80% wool.
I’m surprised this cushion hasn’t sold out long before now, but I’m very glad, as it’s now half price in the M&S summer sale. It was priced at £35 but is now only £17 – and it will soon be mine!

Crochet lined basket
I’m rather taken by this basket, which is designed for putting your laundry in.
The hand-woven basket has been nicely lined with white cotton and finished off with a crochet trim. The lining will prevent any pieces of the basket getting accidentally snagged on your clothes. Use it as a practical way of storing your laundy ready for washing, or to bring the freshly laundered items back in from the washing line.
Of course, you don’t just need to use it for washing – with its pretty lining, this basket would work well for all sorts of storage requirements.

Nest of three tables
If you often need extra tables for putting drinks on when entertaining, but don’t have masses of room to always have a table there, then a nest of tables is the perfect solution.
This set of three solid oak tables are gently curved to produce a kidney bean shape and are a pleasant change from simply having rectangular or square small tables.
The light wood, with its oiled finish, produces a nice colour hue and the three tables, in graduating sizes, slide neatly together when not in use.

Quilt stool
Isn’t this an unusual piece of furniture?
The quilt design on the stool is adapted from a patchwork coverlet of printed cotton and linen, plus embroidery and applique, made in England between 1802 and 1830. The limited edition stool is made from birch veneer, teamed with metal legs, and it’s been created exclusively for the V&A.

Kitchen chopping board set
Kitchen hygiene experts recommend using a seperate chopping board to chop each different type of food on, such as raw meat, fish, vegetables and bread, as it helps avoid contamination.

The boards are all slightly different shapes, which is great for identifying which is used for each type of food, and they’re all thread with leather ties at the top so you can hang the boards up for storage.

We’ve been oohing and aahing over the sale section at Cath Kidston, where there are some good reductions to be had on homeware, home accessories, craft accessories, bags and other goodies. Here are some of our favourites.
Carrier bag stores are great for keeping used carrier bags, bin bags or paper bags handy, so that you can reuse them again. There are a couple of carrier bag stores in the Cath Kidston sale, each with a loop at the top to make them easy to hang up, including the ric rac stripe design and the prarie flower design. Both designs are reduced to £8.
Aqua stripe towels
If you’re looking to replace or update bathroom towels, then the sales are always good times to do so. These aqua stripe cotton jacquard towels are available in a variety of different sizes, including a large bath sheet (was £38, now £26), bath towel (was £24, now £16), hand towel (was £13.99, now £10) and a matching face cloth (was £5, now £3.50).
Large cool bagCool bags are an essential accessory for the summer months. This large cool bag, in the Prairie flower design, would be great for using to transport all your food and drink for a picnic or day out on the beach. It’s got £10 off the original price and is now £20.

This red handpainted hurricane lantern is suitable for use in the home and garden. It’s half price in the sale and is now only £8.
Circus fabric
There are also lots of lovely fabrics in the sale. We spotted this cute circus elephants fabric – which also has giraffes in it too – which we think would be great for making cushion covers with. It’s available with a blue or stone background and is now £12 per metre.
