How To Redesign Your Home In A Weekend

Whether you want to change your living room or your bedroom, or you think the kitchen is getting a little ‘tired’, an upcoming free weekend is your chance to make a change. Of course, you’re not going to be able to overhaul your entire home with just 48 hours to spare, but you can still dramatically improve the look of your interior decor! You just have to move strategically, and make sure you’re redecorating with the most impact. Here are a few ways to do just that.

Put Up a Strip of Wallpaper

Just one, on a wall that’s seen a lot, and where you don’t have to move much to get access to. This way you instantly create a feature wall, even with nothing on it, and help to draw the eye whenever you walk into the room.

Once this is all done, you can then plan for the other elements you want to add, like shelves, albums, ceiling decor, and hanging plants. And just one strip of wallpaper can be applied in a couple hours, so you won’t waste much time here!

Restack Your Kitchen Shelves (or open cupboards)

If you’ve got clearly visible shelves or cupboard interiors in your kitchen, make sure you spend a good couple hours rearranging the items they store. Take everything down, give it a dust, and put things back either arranged in pattern, by colour, or by the sentimental value you hold for them.

Items like inherited china sets are a good example of the last one – if it’s worth something, make sure it’s front and centre, adding a good highlight of pattern or colour in an otherwise purely functional room.

Move Out Some Old Furniture

If you’ve got ratty old furniture knocking around, or you’ve got an attic filled to the brim with pieces you don’t know what to do with, why not look into cheap storage units near you? Get them out of the way for a bit, and see how much space you’re left to work with, and you can come up with a full re-dec plan for the future. Call up on the Friday, get it shipped on the Saturday, then bring it all back late on the Sunday – easy!

Buy Some Pot Plants

Pot plants are easy to pick up; you can get a half grown rubber plant from your local garden centre or even just your local supermarket without much trouble! And once you’ve got a couple in the back of the car, you can use them to decorate your home’s entryway or back door, as well as fill any empty corners in rooms like the bedroom or dining room. A big green plant adds a lot of life to a space, especially if you’ve got light coloured walls, and that works wonders for transforming a space in an instant.

Redesigning your home can be done in a weekend – sort of! 48 hours is more than enough time to make simple changes.
