Whatever age you are, everyone secretly loves getting a Christmas stocking – and that includes pets. When we were asked to take a closer look at personalised stockings from London-based design company Harrow & Green, reviewer Sara Walker had no hesitation in nominating one-year-old springer spaniel Olly as the lucky recipient.
Our dogs have always been part of the family, and they’ve always enjoyed getting their own presents to open on Christmas Day – if nothing else, it keeps them off the human presents!
Our new dog Olly is just a year old, so this will be his first proper Christmas – only fitting that he should have such a high-class stocking to open!
Harrow & Green design, print and create all their products in their London studio, and that includes personalised Christmas stockings, sacks and cards as well as all year round products like personalised handkerchiefs, tote bags and more. Olly’s stocking arrived promptly after ordering, was nicely packaged and had his name on in capital letters.
I thought the quality of this product was very good – OK, it wouldn’t last long if your dog decided to use it as a chew toy, but with normal care it should last for many years. I liked the quirky bone shape – the only slight disadvantage to that was that the hole at the top to put the presents in could have been bigger.
The personalised stocking was made of stiffened hessian so it stood up properly by itself and looked good. You’d be happy to put it out with the rest of the family stockings, in fact it put the others to shame! I liked the design, which was fun and festive without being at all twee, which a lot of products aimed at pets can be.
The dog Christmas stocking costs £25 including personalisation, which isn’t dirt cheap but I felt represented good value for a personalised stocking of this quality. It will become a part of our family Christmas for many years to come, and as you can see from the look on his face Olly can’t wait to get his paws on it!
