Brewers Lilou wallpaper

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

Cosy Home Blog fantastic wallpaper pick

Swirly wallpaper

This unusual Lilou wallpaper by Brewers features whimsical birds and dragonflies, entwined with swirls and flowers.

The design is quite contemporary in nature and runs vertically on the paper, rather than being a repeated horizontal design. It almost looks like it’s the result of a doodle that someone’s drawn whilst on the phone and it’s then be transformed into a wallpaper print.

Lilou is available in a choice of colourways – the red printed on a glossy grey background as shown above, plus pink on a candy pink background (between you and me, that’s quite pink) – and is available to purchase from Wallpaper Direct for £24.50 a roll. If you’d like to try it out and see how the design looks in real life, you can order a sample for a minimal fee.

Pink ostrich wallpaper from Turner Pocock

Friday, June 18th, 2010

ostrich-wallpaper-by-turner-pocock-neutral-pink  ostrich-wallpaper-by-turner-pocock-neutral-pink2

It’s not often you find pink ostriches available on wallpaper, but this fun design has been created by Turner Pocock, in conjunction with Catherine Cazalet.

The nicely designed wallpaper is certainly not overpowering and, from a distance, you wouldn’t even know there are ostriches on it; it’s only when you’re up close that you get to fully appreciate the design.

The neutral and pink ostrich wallpaper is suitable for use in both adult and children’s rooms and is available to purchase, for £70.50 per roll, from Rockett St George.

Jane Churchill sunny yellow fabric and wallpaper

Jane Churchill products

Jane Churchill products

Yellow isn’t a colour that I’ve used that much in the past, but a burst of sunny yellow can really inject a bright, summery feel into a room.

Fabric and wallpaper are two easy ways of bringing yellow into your home decor and, at its most basic, a couple of new cushions in yellow fabric designs can brighten up a tired looking sofa.

I rather like the look of these Jane Churchill fabrics and wallpaper. Available in various yellow designs, my favourites are the floral Fairhaven wallpaper and matching Fairhaven fabric.

For cushions, the Salcombe stripe fabric would be ideal and you could couple it with single colour block cushions made from the Woodbury yellow fabric.

Have you used yellow in a creative way to decorate your home? Leave us a comment and share your experiences.

Louise Body stone birdies wallpaper

Delicate swirl bird wallpaper

Delicate swirl bird wallpaper

This bird design wallpaper is unusual enough to create a design statement on your wall, but still subtle enough to not be overpowering.

Designed by Louise Body, the stone coloured hand finished wallpaper features various birds in flight amidst branches of leaves and berries. The vertical style and the way in which the birds have been designed really makes them look like they’re fluttering and flying on your wall.

The stone birdies wallpaper is a bit pricey at £85 per roll from Oliver Bonas, but you wouldn’t need much of the paper to create a design statement.

Pink flamingo wallpaper by Cole and Son

Monday, April 26th, 2010

What do you think of this wallpaper? I never thought I’d be recommending flamingo wallpaper, but am strangely taken by this design by Cole and Son.

The flamingo design wallpaper is available in a variety of background colours, including pale blue, pink and soft grey, and it’s amazing how different they each look. You get to experience more of the background detail with the pale blue and soft grey colours, but the pink background seems to make the flamingos stand out even more.

The blue and soft grey flamingo wallpapers are both avaialble from Wallpaper Direct. More details of the pink wallpaper, and more colourways, can be found on the Cole and Son website.

Next purple and teal Bloom floral wallpaper

Monday, March 1st, 2010

next-purple-bloom-wallpaper    next-teal-bloom-wallpaper

Wallpaper is a great way of adding colour and design into a room. It doesn’t necessarily have to be used on every wall – having wallpaper on a single wall can prove to be a great statement and add extra interest without being overpowering. Plus, it’s less work to do and costs less!

We’ve noticed that Next have a few nice wallpapers in their current collection, including the Bloom floral design. Available in a choice of purple (which isn’t too purpley – it’s more plum) or teal, it lives up to its name by featuring big flower blooms.

The paper is sourced from renewable, sustainable forests and a roll of each wallpaper is £15 from Next.
