Classic oak chair

We love the look of the Meyah chair, which has a good reduction on the original price. The chair is made from solid oak, with carved legs, and is upholstered in a buttoned effect natural linen fabric.

Vibrant pink chair
Even the most neutral of rooms can be livened up by introducing one single element of colour. In this case, this bright fuchsia pink Chelsea chair would work wonderfully well against plain white walls.
This nicely upholstered chair has one elegant line of white piping around the seat and is finished off with wooden legs. It oozes femininity and glamour!

Crochet beanbag seat
‘Crochet’ and ‘beanbag’ aren’t normally two words that you find in the same sentence, but that’s the case with this colourful vintage style beanbag from M&S.
Part of their new spring 2011 range, the multi coloured crochet bean bag is handmade and features an array of colourful wool flowers all over it. The beanbag measures 55cm by45cm and, as well as providing a useful additional seat or foot stool, it’s a nice design piece to have in your home.
Marks and Spencer currently have a special home and furniture event running, so until the 27th February you can take advantage of getting 20% off the usual price. Various other beanbags and pouffes are included in the offer too, as well as lots of other homeware.
Colourful floral tub chair
The tub design of chairs continue to be a popular style and this chair, with its lively pink orchid floral patterned design, would work very well as a feature or focal point in a lounge.

There’s a small saving of £20 on the price of the chair at the moment, and it will set you back £219 from DFS.
The Dream Collection of furniture from Graham and Green is one of my favourites – and there’s even more to love at the moment, as there’s 20% off.
The Dream chair is a wonderful, comfortable and cosy armchair for relaxing in at home. If you watched the recent House Gift series on ITV1, then you may well recognise the Dream chair, as it was one of the lovely house gifts chosen and gifted by interior designer, Danielle Proud.
Designed by Jamie Graham, the chair is made and upholstered in England. The frame and legs of the chair are made from beech wood and the chair is padded with a filling of feathers and fibres, to provide extreme comfort, then finished off with a luxurious velvet in a choice of colours.
All the furniture is made to order (it takes approximately 6 to 10 weeks) and you can even have your own choice of fabric used if you wish.
Usually priced at £1250, the velvet Dream armchair is now down to the round figure of £1000 and is available in cornflower blue, midnight blue, aubergine, purple, raspberry and mink from Graham and Green.
Comfy armchair
In some respects, it’s a slightly strange idea for a retailer to call a brand new piece of furniture a ‘flea market chair,’ as it gives connotations of it being old and worn. But when you see this leather armchair, you can understand why.
The somewhat aged look of the leather of this 1900s vintage style armchair makes it look like the kind of chair that’s typically found in a market and coveted by bargain furniture hunters. One of the main benefits of buying it new though, as opposed to secondhand from a flea market, is that you don’t have to worry about how you’re going to get it home or whether you can carry it as far as your car.
The chair is made from a lovely shade of soft cigar brown aniline leather. Its compact size (H76, W86 and D88cm) makes it perfect for use in small spaces – like the corner of your bedroom, in the hall or in a study – or as an occasional chair.
The Flea Market chair is sold by House of Fraser and was originally £1399, but is now down to only £799 in their sale.
If this chair isn’t quite to your taste, then there are other leather chairs and sofas in the sale too, including the leather Colorado sofa and chairs, the Milano occasional chair and an academic sounding leather Professor chair.
Handstitched stool
Occasional seats, such as pouffes, come into their own when you’re entertaining or have lots of people in your home, as they’re a very useful extra seat.
This lovely white and purple floral pouffe, which is handstitched, has a fantastic gypsy, eclectic feel to it.

Quilt stool
Isn’t this an unusual piece of furniture?
The quilt design on the stool is adapted from a patchwork coverlet of printed cotton and linen, plus embroidery and applique, made in England between 1802 and 1830. The limited edition stool is made from birch veneer, teamed with metal legs, and it’s been created exclusively for the V&A.

Green knitted bouf
Knitted items are so cool and trendy. Even if you can’t knit yourself, there are plenty of handknitted homeware items to buy, including this fabulous green pouf by Ferm Living.
It’s great for use as an occasional seat in the lounge, plus you can put your feet up on it too. It’s a good long-term investment piece as, if you look after it well, it should give you years of good use.
If green isn’t your colour, it’s also available in coral/orange, yellow and charcoal/grey.

Fairtrade Vietnamese bench
The annual Plumo summer sale has kicked off today. Don’t be alarmed if you visit the site, click on the sale and get an error message (as we keep doing) – just click through to the section you want (home, gifts, clothes etc) and you’ll find all the sale items.
Some things aren’t reduced by a great deal, and perhaps rather highly priced to start with, but this Fairtrade Sapa bench has rather taken our fancy.
The low wooden bench, with it’s colourful painted wood, is a Fairtrade product from Vietnam. The seat is covered with traditional Vietnamese folk fabric, which is a nice added touch, and it would be a useful occasional bench for your home. We can see it working well under a window or perhaps in a hallway.
The only snag is that they say that, “each product will differ slightly from the image shown,” and it doesn’t explain any further in quite what way (if it’s simply the fabric, then it’s probably not a big deal, but we’d like to be sure before ordering it).
Price-wise, the Sapa bench started off life as £249, but is now down to £198. If previous Plumo sales are anything to go by, the price may get reduced further if stocks don’t sell out quickly.
