Mirror table with drawers
A good piece of mirrored furniture makes me drool. It’s something that needs to be used in moderation, but a few select pieces can look stunning in a room, not least as they add extra light and reflections to a dark corner.
The sale continues at Laura Ashley, and they’ve now added an extra 10% off existing sale prices. The Gatsby range of mirrored furniture all has further reductions, including this mirrored side table with drawers, which has now has 55% off the original price.
Described as a bedside table, the piece has three really useful drawers where you could store your bedside reading or other clutter, and it’s finished off with dark feet.
Originally priced at £350, the Gatsby side table is now only £175 at Laura Ashley.
Other pieces in the Gatsby mirrored range include a chest of drawers (now £500), an elegant dressing table (now £287.50), a small chest of drawers (now £450) and a tall chest of drawers (£400).

The Dream Collection of furniture from Graham and Green is one of my favourites – and there’s even more to love at the moment, as there’s 20% off.
The Dream chair is a wonderful, comfortable and cosy armchair for relaxing in at home. If you watched the recent House Gift series on ITV1, then you may well recognise the Dream chair, as it was one of the lovely house gifts chosen and gifted by interior designer, Danielle Proud.
Designed by Jamie Graham, the chair is made and upholstered in England. The frame and legs of the chair are made from beech wood and the chair is padded with a filling of feathers and fibres, to provide extreme comfort, then finished off with a luxurious velvet in a choice of colours.
All the furniture is made to order (it takes approximately 6 to 10 weeks) and you can even have your own choice of fabric used if you wish.
Usually priced at £1250, the velvet Dream armchair is now down to the round figure of £1000 and is available in cornflower blue, midnight blue, aubergine, purple, raspberry and mink from Graham and Green.

Comfy armchair
In some respects, it’s a slightly strange idea for a retailer to call a brand new piece of furniture a ‘flea market chair,’ as it gives connotations of it being old and worn. But when you see this leather armchair, you can understand why.
The somewhat aged look of the leather of this 1900s vintage style armchair makes it look like the kind of chair that’s typically found in a market and coveted by bargain furniture hunters. One of the main benefits of buying it new though, as opposed to secondhand from a flea market, is that you don’t have to worry about how you’re going to get it home or whether you can carry it as far as your car.
The chair is made from a lovely shade of soft cigar brown aniline leather. Its compact size (H76, W86 and D88cm) makes it perfect for use in small spaces – like the corner of your bedroom, in the hall or in a study – or as an occasional chair.
The Flea Market chair is sold by House of Fraser and was originally £1399, but is now down to only £799 in their sale.
If this chair isn’t quite to your taste, then there are other leather chairs and sofas in the sale too, including the leather Colorado sofa and chairs, the Milano occasional chair and an academic sounding leather Professor chair.

Pine cupbloard
This rustic cupboard would look right at home in a cosy country cottage and would serve many a storage need.
Made from redwood pine and finished with a warm oak stain, the cupboard is made extra special with it’s nicely shaped arched door.
As well as cottages, I can imagine the shape of this cupboard working well in homes that are church or chapel conversions – the shape of the door would reflect the shape of the old stained glass windows in the buildings.
The medium sized Faringdon cupboard is sold by The Cotswold Company.

Comfy tub chair
The tub style chair is a great all-rounder in the chair design stakes.
The shape is infinitely comfortable and the chairs can be used in almost any room of your house. They’re great for using in the living room, as chairs to sit and relax in in a conservatory or as an occasional chair to have in the hall or bedroom.
This mocha brown Rutland tub chair is in the classic design and shape, with a colour that will go well with all sorts of decor.
Best of all is the price – it’s reasonably priced at only £129 from Sainsbury’s.

Nest of three tables
If you often need extra tables for putting drinks on when entertaining, but don’t have masses of room to always have a table there, then a nest of tables is the perfect solution.
This set of three solid oak tables are gently curved to produce a kidney bean shape and are a pleasant change from simply having rectangular or square small tables.
The light wood, with its oiled finish, produces a nice colour hue and the three tables, in graduating sizes, slide neatly together when not in use.
The Tevis nest of three tables is sold by Barker and Stonehouse for £229.

Quilt stool
Isn’t this an unusual piece of furniture?
The quilt design on the stool is adapted from a patchwork coverlet of printed cotton and linen, plus embroidery and applique, made in England between 1802 and 1830. The limited edition stool is made from birch veneer, teamed with metal legs, and it’s been created exclusively for the V&A.
If you want to get your hands on one of these unique quilt stools, then buy it now, as it’s limited edition. It’s £50 from the V&A Shop.

Create a special seat in your garden
Wouldn’t this be the perfect seat for your garden?
Made from natural timber, the arbour features an ample sized seat, with a nicely shaped wooden roof and trellis at the sides. The enclosed sides would provide some excellent shelter from the hot sun or gentle wind and it could be your special spot in the garden to retreat to for a spot of quiet reading or relaxation.
During the summer, you could grow sweat peas, clematis or honeysuckle up the sides of the trellis, so you’d be surrounded be pretty flowers and delicate scent.
The Rowlinson Tenbury arbour is sold by Garden Chic and needs a bit of self-assembly to get it ready for your garden. It’s currently priced at £229.95 and delivery to mainland UK is free.

French-style bed
I love antique furniture, but can’t always afford to buy it for all rooms in my home. This French-style white painted Imogen bedstead is a good alternative to an actual antique bed as it looks the part, but costs less than a real one would.
It’s made from Chinese birch, which has been painted in white, then given an antique-like finish. It has beautiful cabriole legs that raise it off the ground and provide enough room to store all your treasures (or clutter) under the bed.
The Imogen bed is available in a choice of double or king size, with or without a mattress, and is currently reduced in the sale at Feather and Black. It’s been styled really nicely in the picture and the blue and white bedding looks great too!

Handmade shelf and kitchen roll holder
Alison Capeling got in touch via Twitter to let us know about her shop and products. The online store and shop in Truro sell a variety of lovely home interiors and accessories, focusing on country style and coastal living.
Alison designs furniture too, which is handmade by carpenter, Phil. We love the idea of this functional kitchen shelf, which has a built in kitchen roll holder shelf below, on which you can also hang tea towels or kitchen towels. Shown here in vintage lime white, the shelf is also available pale sage, white or French Grey, and is made to order.
There’s also a practical shelf available for the bathroom, with useful pegs underneath the shelf.
For more details about the handmade kitchen roll holder shelf, or to discover lots more inspiring home furniture and accessories, check out Alison Capeling’s website.
