Rapture & Wright Portobello linen fabric

On trend lace effect fabric

Blue lace fabric

We’re in love with this Portobello fabric from Rapture & Wright!

The linen fabric features a wonderful design inspired by French lace – it reminds us of Spirograph patterns (any other Spirograph fans out there?).

The fabric is hand printed in the UK and is available in a variety of colours (a deep peony pinky-red, spring green and slate, to name a few), but we’re rather taken by the Baltic blue. It would be perfect to use for making cushions or curtains for your home.

You can find the Portobello linen fabric for sale from various retailers, including Cimmermann, who currently have 10% off the usual price.

Peony and Sage fabrics by Kimberley Bell

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

Interior designer Kimberley Bell, who runs KB Interiors, has created the Peony and Sage range of fabrics.

The fabric designs are inspired by an ‘eclectic mix’ of all the things she loves and they’re produced in a calming palate that work well with heritage paint colours, such as Farrow & Ball paints. There are some lovely designs available, some created from hand drawn designs, and they’re perfect for use in country, shabby chic or vintage interior schemes.

Here are just a few of the designs available:

Shabby chic country fabrics from Kimberley Bell

Blackberry and bee

Blackberry and bee design fabric in Dutch blue. £43 per metre. The paint colour, Stony Ground, by Farrow & Ball, works well alongside the fabric.

Give tired old chairs a new look
Give tired old chairs a new look

Chairs and other covered furniture inevitably get worn over time, but rather than buying new furniture, they can be given a whole new lease of life by re-upholstering them. Even if it’s not something you feel qualified to tackle yourself, there are plenty of people who you can hire to do it for you.

Designers Guild have recently launched a range of new fabrics for Autumn/Winter, including the essential Brenan upholstery fabric. The fabric is classed as a ‘hi-tech weave’  and is made from 60% polyester and 40% polyurethane. The fabric finish has a shimmer to it and, as there’s a massive choice of 35 colours to choose from, you’ve got a very good chance of finding the perfect shade to match your decor.

Ric rac design carrier bag store

We’ve been oohing and aahing over the sale section at Cath Kidston, where there are some good reductions to be had on homeware, home accessories, craft accessories, bags and other goodies. Here are some of our favourites.

Carrier bag stores are great for keeping used carrier bags, bin bags or paper bags handy, so that you can reuse them again. There are a couple of carrier bag stores in the Cath Kidston sale, each with a loop at the top to make them easy to hang up, including the ric rac stripe design and the prarie flower design. Both designs are reduced to £8.

Bargain bathroom towels from Cath Kidston

If you’re looking for a fresh new seasonal look for your bedroom, then Zara Home have some gorgeous new bedlinen ideas in stock.

The aptly named Summer collection includes a reversible cotton duvet cover – pink floral print on one side, and polka dots on the reverse – and matching pillowcases.

A number of pieces are available in this pretty pink shade, but if you’re not massively on just pink, it looks great with touches of fresh green (cushions and throw) or a red and white gingham cushion.

Jane Churchill sunny yellow fabric and wallpaper

Jane Churchill products

Jane Churchill products

Yellow isn’t a colour that I’ve used that much in the past, but a burst of sunny yellow can really inject a bright, summery feel into a room.

Fabric and wallpaper are two easy ways of bringing yellow into your home decor and, at its most basic, a couple of new cushions in yellow fabric designs can brighten up a tired looking sofa.

I rather like the look of these Jane Churchill fabrics and wallpaper. Available in various yellow designs, my favourites are the floral Fairhaven wallpaper and matching Fairhaven fabric.

For cushions, the Salcombe stripe fabric would be ideal and you could couple it with single colour block cushions made from the Woodbury yellow fabric.

Have you used yellow in a creative way to decorate your home? Leave us a comment and share your experiences.

Fun floral fabric

Fun floral fabric

Isn’t this a fun fabric design? I think it’s perfect for adding some summer colour into my home.

The design features modern colour block, striped and outlined flowers in zesty colours, such as hot pink, lime green, red and aqua.

The Ab Fab Tropicana curtain fabric is available from Terry’s Fabrics for only £8.99 a metre. As well as curtains, I’d like to make matching cushions too.
