Pop a candle in this bird cage

Pop a candle in this bird cage

It’s been a while since we last featured An Angel at My Table, but they’ve got some lovely new products in stock and it’s well worth heading over to take a look.

Bird cages have become very trendy in home accessories and this sweet little bird cage is designed to hold a candle or tea light. Just open up the door and pop the candle inside. Of course, you don’t have to use it as a candle holder; the design of the cage is ideal for hanging jewellery inside, or you could simply use it for decorative purposes.

The birdcage is nicely designed, with four little ball feet on the bottom and a cute bird perched on the top. It’s priced at £23.50 from An Angel at My Table.

Banish bugs with Citronella candles

Monday, June 7th, 2010

Garden candles

Garden candles

There’s nothing worse than sitting outside on warm summer days and being pestered by bugs and insects.

One of the best ways of warding them off is to burn citronella candles - the fragrance is pleasant for humans, but not for bugs – and the candles make the perfect accompaniment on a balmy summer evening, as the light fades away.

This set of three mini citronella candles will ensure you’re well stocked for a while. They’re available from Patchwork Harmony for £8.25.

Natural leaf lantern from Coasting Along

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Amazing leaf lantern

This amazing lantern is handmade from plant fibres and leaf skeletons.

It almost looks too delicate to use, but is fully functional – it comes supplied with a tea light ready to use and is fully fire-retardant.

It’s a very unusual piece and looks stunning when lit, as well as simply used for decorative purposes.

The natural leaf lantern is available from Coasting Along, for £15.

Vintage candelabra

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

Pretty fabulous candelabra

Pretty fabulous candelabra

Candelabras do not have to be stern pieces of table decor, highly polished and dragged out but once a year.

No, they should be delicate, slightly vintagey, strewn with flowers and perched on a dainty base.

It’s a reasonable £39 and we don’t see why it shouldn’t be out on the table all year round.

Find it at Bombay Duck.

Vintage china teacup candle

Vintage china teacup candle

Vintage china teacup candle

At Cosy Home Blog, we love old vintage china teacups and, in addition to drinking tea from them, one of the popular ways you can bring them into your home is in the form of a candle.

These teacup candles are all one-off vintage pieces, so each cup is unique, and the cup is filled with a delicately scented candle.

If you love the look of vintage china, and also appreciate candles, then this is a great way of combining the two. It would also make a lovely gift.

Kirstie Allsopp famously featured vintage china teacup candles in her popular Channel 4 TV series, Kirstie’s Homemade Home.

The vintage teacup candles are available to purchase from Lavender Room for £22.00 each.
