Traditional kitchen scales

Retro scales

Retro scales

Given the choice between traditional style kitchen scales and digital scales, the traditional ones win me over every time. I’ve never found the digital scales quite so accurate and love the look of the traditional ones.

These retro ivory kitchen scales are stylish and functional, with a clear dial on the front and easy-to-use metal bowl perfect for measuring out baking ingredients. They measure in grams and kilos, and pounds and ounces, and are reasonably priced at £19.95.

If you fancy a bit more colour, then the scales are also available in red, black and mint, from Dotcomgiftshop.

Nigella Lawson measuring jug

Pink measuring jug

Pink measuring jug

The measuring jugs I’ve got all have the measurements on the outside, but I rather like the look of this Nigella Lawson measuring jug, which has all the key information on the inside.

From the outside, it looks like an ordinary pink kitchen jug – and there’s no reason why you can’t use it for anything else too – but look inside, and there are all the essential metric and imperial measurements for you to use.

The measuring jug is available from John Lewis and, if pink isn’t your colour, it’s also available in cream.

Lidded casserole dish

Lidded casserole dish

I love Le Creuset stoneware cooking dishes and this one is available at a bit of a bargain price.

Amazon are currently selling the cerise lidded version at 40% off, which it makes it very reasonably priced for a good quality casserole dish. It measures 21cm in size, is available in the popular cerise red colour and should provide many years of good cooking use.

Get yours before they all sell out!

Lakeland traditional enamel bakeware

Enamel pie dish

Enamel pie dish

This traditional enamel bakeware is just like my Granny used to use and reminds me of freshly baked pies and crumbly pastry.

You don’t see enamel bakeware so often these days, but a new, very reasonably priced range is now available from Lakeland.

They’ve got oblong pie dishes ranging in size from 16cm (£1.99) to 26cm (£3.99), plus other useful pieces, such as an enamel pie plate (£2.99) and a round roaster (£9.99).

Best of all, all of the traditional enamel bakeware is currently on a 3 for 2 offer, saving you even more money.
