Festive inspiration and ideas for styling a cosy Christmas home

The festive season is approaching, so it’s time to start thinking about how to style your home for a cosy Christmas.

There are heaps of Christmas decor products in the shops, but one of my favourite must-visit online stores for new festive ideas is Cox & Cox. They always stock a brilliant range of products and their Christmas collection is full of magical ideas. It’s somewhere I normally buy at least a few Christmas items from each year and, when you take a look at what’s on offer, it’s no wonder I’m tempted!

When you’re styling a cosy Christmas home, there a few essentials you can’t skip, like the tree, decorations, lights and wreaths, so here’s a guide to some of my top picks this year.

Christmas tree

When it comes to Christmas trees, I prefer a good quality artificial Christmas tree to a fresh tree. It’s less hassle, you don’t have the worry over it dropping bits all over the floor (and however much they say they don’t, they always do!) and you can re-use it year after year.

Stunning blue mountain spruce artificial Christmas tree

The Blue Mountain spruce Christmas tree is produced in a classic Christmas tree shape, with frosted sage tips, and at seven feet tall, it looks stunning. There’s plenty of room on the tree to hang garlands, decorations and lights, plus space underneath to pop presents under the tree. Look how amazing it can look when it’s decorated:

I love how they’ve hung the silhouette design light up stars on the tree, I probably wouldn’t have thought to use decorations of that size on it, but it’s really effective.

Christmas tree decorations and lights

I’ve bought Christmas bauble sets from Cox & Cox before and they’ve always been good quality. This year I can’t help but love their range of felt tree decorations. Aren’t these teacup mice cute?

They do a lovely selection of Christmas baubles and you can usually find things that are a bit different to the usual high street offerings. For example, these textured white baubles are rather nice and have lots of extra details, such as a burnished brass top and star charm, to finish them off in style.

It’s essential that a Christmas tree needs lights. The snowball cluster light garland is lovely, as it combines a white pom pom tree garland with lights – so you kind of get 2 for 1. It’s very wintery and has 128 warm white LED lights in amidst the sparkling pompoms.

Christmas wreath

Love this starry birch Christmas wreath, it's perfect to hang as a decoration inside your hom

It’s a lovely tradition to hang a festive wreath on the outside of your front door, but I really like having a special one to enjoy indoors too. The starry birch wreath is a perfect example of this. I love how it’s made up of tiny stars and gently frosted with muted glitter.

Other decorations

Of course, a cosy home isn’t complete without some other Christmas decorations dotted around – I love to have a few select pieces on the mantlepiece, used as table decorations and livening up dark corners.

The starry copper plate, which is shaped like a star and has an embossed design on it, looks like it would be useful to use as a part of a table decoration, or perhaps for serving mince pies on.

Be creative with a glass Christmas tree jar - great for creating a focal point in a festive room

I have one of these glass Christmas tree jars and love it – it’s brilliant for filling up with baubles, fake snow, mini decorations and lights and makes a great focal point in the room. I’m currently planning what to do with mine this year.

Outdoors

If your budget will allow, it’s nice to include a few select outdoor Christmas decorations too, both to pretty up the outside of your home during the festive season, as well as make it more welcoming for visitors.

Magical light up outdoor Christmas tree. Make a statement with your outdoor Christmas decorations

I really like this magical light up outdoor tree as it’s slimline and won’t take up too much room and the design is very attractive. Any extra light outside when it’s so dark in winter is a bonus!

So that’s what I’d choose, what about you?
