Vintage bespoke cake stands from Let Them Eat Cake

Rich Bouquets vintag cake stand

Rich Bouquets cake stand (£70)

At Cosy Home Blog, we’re big fans of vintage china and are rather partial to cake stands too. So it was rather exciting to come across a new venture which not only combines vintage china and cake stands, but also creates bespoke pieces too.

Let Them Eat Cake sells one-off vintage cake stands of all shapes and sizes. All the stands are unique, as they design and make the stands themselves (what a fun job!), from lovely mismatched pieces of vintage china.

Some of them are made up of plates, as you’d expected from tiered cake stands, whilst others have a  cup added to the third tier, for that extra quirky look.

The Regency Tea three tier cake stand has a base plate measuring 230mm, with a distinctive pink design and a middle floral plate with a navy ribbon edge. It’s topped off with a vintage floral cup and saucer and costs £65.

They’re not all tiered cake stands though, there are some really nice pedestal stands too, such as this 1920s ‘Woodland Walk’ stand (£35), which has a nice green glass base.

But if you’ve browsed the options on offer and nothing quite takes your fancy, or if you’ve got your own collection of favourite pieces of china that you’d like recycled, then Let Them Eat Cake can create your own very special bespoke cake stand.

This is a great idea, and one of best vintage china recycling initiatives we’ve come across recently. It’s especially good if you’d like something special to match your exsiting china, or to give as a gift. Find out more about their bespoke cake stand designing service here.

* Update: Check out Let Them Eat Cake’s store on Bouf for my inspirational cake stand ideas.

Vintage design cake paper

Vintage design cake paper

If you fancy some new decorative art on your wall, don’t want to spend a fortune and don’t mind being a bit creative, then there are some great ways of creating inexpensive wall art yourself.

One tried and tested method, and something that doesn’t require a lot of artistic skill, is to purchase some good quality decorative wrapping paper and either use it simply as a poster on a wall, or for a more stylish look, pop it in an inexpensive frame.

If you like all things vintage, and are rather partial to cake, then this vintage cake paper by Cavallini would make a great piece of wall art.

The high quality paper features a range of sumptuous looking cakes, from archive designs, and measures 50cm by 70cm.

If you want something for a nursery or a child’s room, then they also do a lovely retro ABC paper, with colourful letters and representative images next to some of them. It measures the same size as the cake paper.

Why not make this into art for a nursery? Why not make this into art for a nursery?

Both the vintage cake paper and retro ABC paper can be purchased from Berry Red for £2.95 each.

Vintage china teacup candle

Vintage china teacup candle

At Cosy Home Blog, we love old vintage china teacups and, in addition to drinking tea from them, one of the popular ways you can bring them into your home is in the form of a candle.

These teacup candles are all one-off vintage pieces, so each cup is unique, and the cup is filled with a delicately scented candle.

If you love the look of vintage china, and also appreciate candles, then this is a great way of combining the two. It would also make a lovely gift.

Kirstie Allsopp famously featured vintage china teacup candles in her popular Channel 4 TV series, Kirstie’s Homemade Home.

The vintage teacup candles are available to purchase from Lavender Room for £22.00 each.

Dramatic baroque headboard wall sticker

Dramatic baroque headboard wall sticker

Wall stickers or decals are being widely used in home decor and interior design and are a great way of producing instant effects on your walls, without loads of hard work. They’re also relatively easy to remove, if you get bored with the sticker and fancy a change of decor.

We’re rather impressed by the intricacy and impact of this baroque headboard wall sticker.

The wall sticker is part of a range sourced from France and would add a dramatic look to a bedroom.

The baroque wall sticker is made to order and available in a wide variety of colours, so you can really tailor it to fit in with your home decor.

It’s available from Rockett St George, along with some other great designs, and costs £140.

Laura Ashley console table

If you’ve got room for this in your kitchen, then it’s a great idea and a handy extra piece of furniture to own.

Sold by Laura Ashley and part of the Refectory range, this console table is made from oak in a ‘butchers block style’.  It comes with two stools that fit nicely underneath, keeping everything tidy when it’s not in use.

It would be ideal, as the name suggests, for having breakfast at this table. But you could also use it as an extra table for chopping vegetables at or preparing meals in your kitchen.

The Refectory breakfast console is currently half price in the Laura Ashley sale and is priced at £416.08.
