Set of Marmite cake tins

Retro Marmite cake tins

Retro Marmite cake tins

Marmite cake tins – a phrase you need to say carefully, as otherwise it runs the risk of conjuring up ideas of rather odd flavoured cakes.

Marmite designs are all the rage at the moment,  and here the iconic ’love it or hate it’ savoury spread design has been transformed into something to adorn cake tins with.

The set of three retro tins are in the shades of blue, teal and pink and come in three sizes – small (17cm x 7.5cm), medium (20cm x 8cm) and large (23cm x 9cm).

If you’d like to own the set of three retro Marmite cake tins, then they’re available to buy from Funky Olive for £21.99.

Three decorative storage cases

There are some lovely storage cases on the market and this floral set is no exception.

The set of three decorative cases are in the ‘Le Jardin Fleur’ range and feature orchids and other flowers in their designs.

Made from strong cardboard, each case is finished off nicely with an antique style handle and clasp.

Decorative mussel shell heart

Handmade mussel shell heart

Handmade mussel shell heart

Decorative heart motifs are very in vogue, especially where they’ve been produced using recycled or reclaimed materials (like this driftwood heart, for example).

In this instance, it’s mussel shells that have been utilised in a creative way and don’t they work well! The shells have lovely shades of indigo, blue and white and the way they’ve been put together brings with it a sense of movement and swirls within the heart shape.

Handmade in Devon, the mussel shell heart measures 22cm by 19cm. It can be purchased from Vintage Living for £18.99.

Plumo haberdashery box of delights

Dive into the Plumo haberdashery box

Plumo haberdashery box of delights

The new Autumn range at Plumo has just launched and, for crafters and sewing fans, this looks like a fabulous haberdashery box.

The box is covered with a floral courduroy material is divided into sections and comes filled with a delightful selection of crafting goodies.

These include sequins, beads, trims, buttons, threads, rosettes, pompoms, gingham hearts and cottons. Plus there are scissors, needles and safety pins supplied, so you’re all kitted out to get sewing and creating as soon as it arrives.

The description is a bit unclear about quite what the lid of the box is like (if anyone knows, we’d love more details), but it sounds like a real treasure trove of haberdashery goodies.

The haberdashery box and contents are available from Plumo for the grand sum of £45. Considering how much all the trims, buttons and beads can cost and add up when bought individually, this seems like a reasonable price.

Laura Ashley Kimono wallpaper

Laura Ashley Kimono wallpaper

Laura Ashley Kimono wallpaper

Bargain alert!

We spotted this neutral coloured Kimono wallpaper on the Laura Ashley website – and it’s reduced down to only £10 a roll! Considering it started out at £26 a roll, that’s a great discount and could save you money if you’re thinking of wallpapering a wall or two.

They officially describe the colour as ‘linen’. As it’s so nice and neutral, with a floral pattern that isn’t overpowering, we think it would be ideal for anyone who likes the idea of wallpaper, but doesn’t want to go overboard with colour.

If you fancy seeing this Kimono design wallpaper on your walls, then you can purchase it online from Laura Ashley.

If bigger, bolder florals are more your style, then check out this post on Fresh Design Blog, which looks at the top 10 contemporary floral wallpapers.

Plumo final sale bargains

Plumo vintage magnetic board Plumo vintage magnetic board

If you’ve been umming and aahing about whether to buy items in the Plumo sale (or is that just us?), then today is your last chance, as the sale ends today (20th August). There’s also a tempting extra offer of free postage (worth £4.50) on standard online orders.

The Plumo sale prices have already been reduced a couple of times (you can see the reductions listed on individual items), so many pieces are much more reasonably priced than how they started off.

Some of the lovely home items you could snap up include a vintage green metallic magnetic memo noticeboard for £15.

Cherry glass decorative jar

Cherry glass decorative jar

An old-fashioned pressed glass storage jar, with a decorative cherry design, that you could use to put homemade jam in. The tall jar is available for £4 and it has metal clips on it to keep the lid secure.

Six meadow flower hooks

Six meadow flower hooks

A set of six dainty and decorative meadow flower hooks. They’re cream coloured, made from metal and you get an assorted variety of different designs.

The set of six started off as £33 per set, but are now down to £19.

Vintage fabric magnetic noticeboard Vintage fabric magnetic noticeboard

A vintage fabric magnetic noticeboard, reduced down to £10 (was £28). The magnetic buttons shown with it have sold out, but there are lots available elsewhere, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

We’ll admit to have been tempted by this, but were initially put off as they say that the fabric and colours may vary from the picture shown, and at full price, we were worried we may end up with a not-so-nice fabric. Perhaps that’s why it’s ended up in the sale, as it’s not ideal to be unsure of what you’ll get – you want it to match your home decor, after all!

There are more interesting items in the Plumo sale, so go and have a look - it’s your last chance to get a bargain!

Luxurious king size antique brass bed

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009
Antique king size brass bed Antique king size brass bed

As far as antique brass beds go, this one looks gorgeous and decidedly comfortable (we like the choice of bed linen too – it would look great in a country style home).

This decorative brass and iron bedstead is king size (5ft wide) and features straight top brass rails along the top and bottom, decorated with shiny brass knobs.

There’s also an extra triple bar decoration on the both the head and foot panels with various decorative mouldings.

This lovely bed (m563) is available from bed specialist, Divine Dreams (great name!) and is priced at £995.
